To use the Scan or Get Photo pane to download digital photos 
The Scan or Get Photo pane is designed for use with TWAIN- and WIA-compatible cameras.
If your camera does not use a TWAIN or WIA device driver, use the photo download program that came with your camera to get your photos into PaperPort. If your device is displayed as a disk drive you can drag and drop your photos into PaperPort.

Connect the TWAIN or WIA-compatible camera to your computer and turn it on, according to the instructions that came with your camera.

Start the PaperPort program, and display the Folders pane.

In the Folders pane, click the folder in which you want to place your photos.

Choose
Scan Settings on the Desktop ribbon.
The Scan or Get Photo pane appears in the left pane. The Scanner list shows you all TWAIN or WIA-compatible devices found on your computer.

Select your digital camera.

Click Scan. PaperPort starts the camera’s TWAIN or WIA user interface.

Use it to copy images from the camera to your computer.
