To set which program opens for desktop items

You can control what happens when you open an item on the PaperPort desktop. For example, you can open the Microsoft Word program and display a Word file whenever you double-click a .doc file — or you can view the .doc file in the Image View window.

To set which program opens when you double-click items on the PaperPort desktop:

  1. Click on the PaperPort button, choose PaperPort options Setting which program opens for desktop items Options, and then click the Desktop tab.

    — or —

On the Desktop ribbon, choose PaperPort options Setting which program opens for desktop items Desktop Options.

  2. In the Double-Click on Item area, make desired settings in the selection boxes for different types of items to be opened. When finished, click OK.

The following table gives a summary of possible opening scenarios for different types of items:

Note

The actually offered Nuance PDF viewer/editor product depends on the installation scenario for the given computer. It can be either PDF Viewer Plus as part of the PaperPort installation package, or a more sophisticated PDF Converter Professional (version 5.3 or above).

These settings are also valid for other cases of opening an item on the PaperPort desktop with the Open command:

  • from the shortcut menu of an item
  • from the drop-down menu of the PaperPort button.
