Using the Search Results window
PaperPort displays the Search Results window whenever you search on All items in the All-in-One Search pane on the PaperPort desktop. The Search Results window shows:
-
A thumbnail of the item. If the item is a multi-page item, you can use the navigation bar to browse through the thumbnail or go to a specific page in the item.
-
Item properties, such as name, folder, author, keywords, subject information, and comments if applicable.
-
Columns that list the name, folder, size, type, and modified date of each item. The items are listed in order by rank, based on the number of matches found. You can rearrange these columns by dragging their title boxes.
From the Search Results window, you can:
-
Drag items to other folders or to program links
In the list, click an item, and then drag it to any PaperPort or Windows folder or directly to a program link on the Send To bar.
Use Ctrl+click to select multiple items, or Shift+click to select a range of items.
-
View items in the Image View window
In the list, right-click an item, and then, on the shortcut menu, click
View.
-
Open the folder that contains found items
In the list, double-click an item — or right-click the item, and then on the shortcut menu, click Open Containing Folder. PaperPort opens the folder on the PaperPort desktop and automatically selects the item.
Choose Find Next on the Item ribbon to go to the next item in the list.
-
View or edit item properties
In the list, right-click an item, and then, on the shortcut menu, click
Properties. If the item is a PDF file or PaperPort Image (.max) file, you can add or edit the current item properties.
-
View, copy, or paste item content
Click the
View Text button to display the text content of an item. If the item content has been added to the All-in-One Search database, the matching content appears in red. To move to the next or previous match, click the Match buttons at the top right of the window. To copy text from the item, select a portion of the content, and then click
Copy Text. This copies the selected text to the Clipboard so that you can paste it into any other file. To paste text that you have copied to the Clipboard, navigate to the location where you want to paste the text, and position the cursor at the insertion point. Click the right mouse button, and then click Paste.
Tip
You can retain the current Search Results list while you view found items. In the Search Results window, right-click the item you want to view, and then, on the shortcut menu, click View. This displays the item in the Image View window.
Click Go To Desktop on the View ribbon to return to Search Results.
