Duplicating items

To duplicate items on the desktop

You can quickly make a copy of one or several items on the PaperPort desktop. The file type and properties remain unchanged.

  1. On the PaperPort desktop, select each item you want to duplicate.

  2. Click the arrow next to PaperPort duplicate Duplicating items Duplicate  and choose PaperPort duplicate item Duplicating items Item on the Item ribbon. 

PaperPort names the new items according to the Windows naming convention; for example, Copy of Document, Copy 2 of Document, and so on.
 

Tips

A quick way to duplicate several items is to hold down the Ctrl key, select each item, and then drag the items to another location on the desktop.

You can also right-click an item, and then on the shortcut menu, click Duplicate Item — or use Copy and Paste commands.


To duplicate items as new PaperPort Image items

You can use the Duplicate as PaperPort Image feature to convert a document or image file into a new PaperPort Image item.

For example, you can copy a Word document as a PaperPort Image and then use PaperPort annotation buttons to add notes or annotate the item.

  1. On the PaperPort desktop, select the item you want to duplicate.

  2. On the Item ribbon, click the arrow next toPaperPort duplicate Duplicating items Duplicate and choose PaperPort duplicate as pp image Duplicating items As PaperPort Image

    — or —

    Right-click the item for the shortcut menu and choose Duplicate as PaperPort Image.

Tip

You can also duplicate items by printing them to PaperPort.

 

To duplicate items as new PDF files

If you are using PaperPort Professional, you can use the Duplicate as PDF feature to convert text type files (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel) to a new PDF file, provided their native applications are installed on your computer and they support printing from their shortcut menus in Windows Explorer.

For example, you can convert a Word document to PDF and then use PaperPort’s annotation buttons to annotate the item.

  1. On the PaperPort desktop, select the item you want to duplicate.

  2. Click the arrow next toPaperPort duplicate Duplicating items Duplicate and choose PaperPort duplicate as pdf Duplicating items As PDF Item On the Item ribbon

    — or —

    Right-click the item for the shortcut menu and choose Duplicate as PDF Item.

Note

The Duplicate as PDF command is available for HTML files saved in browsers. HTML files created in PaperPort cannot be duplicated as PDF files.  

Tip

You can also duplicate text items as PDF files by printing them to PaperPort from their originating programs. For details, see Creating PDF files from text documents.
