PaperPort Options: Desktop tab

Click the Desktop Options button PaperPort options Desktopon the Desktop ribbon.

 

The Desktop tab first allows you to choose between several color schemes for the desktop background, pane background and for ribbons and frames.

Thumbnail Style

  • Display classic style thumbnails — Displays thumbnails in the style of previous PaperPort releases. Item titles are located above thumbnails, thumbnails are aligned to the top, and the page navigator consists of a scroll bar that is always displayed.

  • Show file name extensions — Displays three-character file name extensions that identify the file type; for example, report.doc, photo.max, and birthday.jpg.

  • Show page names of multi-page items — When in thumbnail view, displays the page names of  multi-page MAX and PDF items below the item name.

  • Truncate long item names — Shortens long item names. Truncation will be indicated with three dots.

Double-Click on Item

  • Open Image files with — choose from the following options:

    • Image View within PaperPort

    • Separate ImageViewer program

    • Program associated with file type
       

  • Open PDF files with — choose from the following options:

    • PDF Viewer Plus (see Note)

    • Image View within PaperPort

    • Separate ImageViewer program

    • Program associated with file type

Note

If a more sophisticated Nuance PDF viewer/editor product such as PDF Converter Professional (version 5.3 or above) is found at PaperPort installation time, PDF Viewer Plus will not be installed and PDF Converter Professional is offered instead.

  • Open Other documents with  — choose from the following options:

    • Program associated with file type

    • Image View within PaperPort

    • Separate ImageViewer program

Choosing Program associated with file type starts the program in which the item was created or is currently associated. For example, when you double-click a file named Report.doc, it opens the file in Microsoft Word.

  • Save items without prompting — items are automatically saved without prompting you for confirmation. Clear this checkbox if you want to confirm or discard any changes before you save an item.

Thumbnail View

  • Switch to Details view if there are more than __ items in a folder — Select this to have the program switch automatically from Thumbnail to Details view if a folder contains more than a defined number of files. This speeds up folder opening.
