Save As (multiple items)

You can use the Save As dialog box to save multiple image items with the same or different criteria. This batch processing feature is useful to convert multiple items to the same type, or to implement a naming convention for multiple items.

When more than one item is selected on the PaperPort desktop, the Save As dialog box contains a special checkbox entitled Display Save As dialog for each item:

  • Clear the checkbox to use the same criteria for each selected item on the desktop.

  • Select the checkbox to specify a different folder, file name, or file type for each selected item — or quality setting for selected JPEG and PDF files.

In the Save As dialog box for multiple items:

  • Save in — Identifies the folder in which you want to save the item or items. Select the folder so that the folder name appears in the Save in box.

  • File name — Specifies the name of the item or items. You can keep the same name or enter a new one.

To retain the original name of each item, do not change the file name. This will preserve each file name.

To save your items with a new name, edit the file name and PaperPort will use a numeric suffix to make each name unique.
(Click on the PaperPort button, choose
PaperPort options Save As (multiple items) Options and click the Item tab to see the default numbering scheme.)

When you change the name, PaperPort creates a copy of each item without affecting the originals.

  • Save as type — Identifies the file type in which to save the item or items.

  • Color — Specifies color depth.

  • Resolution — Specifies image resolution in dpi.

  • Display Save As dialog for each item — Instructs PaperPort to display the Save As dialog box for each item so that you can specify a different folder, file name, file type, or image quality setting.

  • Options — For certain image items, such as JPEG and PDF format, displays the Image Quality dialog box in which you can set the level of compression. The higher the number, the lower the compression and the better the image quality.
