View Text

When you click the View Text button in the Properties panel or an Item  Properties dialog box, the View Text dialog box shows you the textual content of the selected item as decolumnized plain text. The text appears immediately for text items or PDF files with an accessible text layer. OCR runs to generate text for image items. This text can be stored for future use; specify this in the All-in-One Search panel of the Options dialog box. If you choose not to store texts (the default value); OCR runs again each time you click View Text.

Use the previous and next buttons to move between pages of multi-page items.

You can select a portion of the content, copy it to the Windows Clipboard, and then paste it into the Keywords and Subject (comments) boxes of the Item Properties dialog box, or into any other program.

To copy the text:

  1. Select the text you want to copy.

  2. Click Copy Text.

If you want to copy the text into the Item Properties dialog box, click Close. Otherwise, you can keep the View Text box open.

  3. Navigate to the location where you want to paste the text, and position the cursor at the insertion point.

  4. Click the right mouse button, and then click Paste.

The Find Text command shows its result in this dialog box.
