Using Web Publisher, you can easily create an HTML file that contains the actual text from an image item on your desktop.

For example, you can scan a text document as a PDF or PaperPort Image (.max) file and then use the document text on a web page.

By dragging and dropping the item to the Web Publisher icon, you can run the OCR process on the item to create an HTML file that contains text or links to the document text.

To create an HTML file that contains text from an item:

  1. On the Tools ribbon, choose PaperPort sendto options Creating HTML files that contain item text Send To Options, and then, in the Program Links list, click the Web Publisher icon.

  2. In the Send To Options dialog box, select Text to convert text items to text-only HTML files using the selected OCR program.

  3. If you have more than one OCR program, select the one you want to use under Conversion.

  4. To specify various options for the OCR program, click Settings if available, and change the options you want.

  5. If you want to change any default options, click the Options button. Then, in the Web Publisher Options dialog box, select the options you want, and click OK.

  6. On the PaperPort desktop, drag the item to the Web Publisher icon on the Send To bar. A progress bar reports the status of the page creation process.

  7. Follow the steps in the Web Publisher wizard to complete the publishing process.

Tips

To create a new HTML file that contains only the text of the item you drag to the Web Publisher icon, set the following in the Web Publisher Options dialog box: On the File Info tab, click Create new page; and on the Page Format tab, click Album Page.

If you want to use text in a document that is not a PDF or PaperPort Image file, use Duplicate on the Item menu. The Duplicate feature copies the document to a PDF or PaperPort Image file that you can then send to Web Publisher.
